It’s time to rev up the excitement for Victory Lane’s second annual Amazing Wheel Race fundraiser. This event features a traveling race competition where teams race across New Castle, Indiana to complete various challenges. Funds raised during this event directly benefit the families who attend Victory Lane’s summer camp sessions.
During the Amazing Wheel Race, not only does a competition ensue- the festivities also feature a car show, silent auction, bounce houses, and other activities for kids to enjoy. During the 2021 Amazing Wheel Race event, an estimated 300 people attended and sponsors, registration revenue, and silent auction donations raised over $7,000.
The Road Runners, a team made up of Dara and David Upchurch and Diann and Mike Nichols, were the champions of last year’s event. They collectively agreed that their favorite memory was beginning the day together over breakfast and being able to work together as a team. The Road Runners expressed that they will be making a comeback this year and will be there to win!
Mike Nichols added, “I had a great time and had a chance to help a great organization. It was a sense of accomplishment.”
Victory Lane summer camp sessions give families of children with special needs and families without special needs children the opportunity to connect and build an understanding of one another. The Victory Lane community fosters that connection throughout the year by hosting other events such as a chili cook-off, pool parties, and holiday get togethers. All these activities happen with the support of generous donors and fundraising events like the Amazing Wheel Race.
This year’s Amazing Wheel Race will take place on April 16 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m at the Victory Lane office, 1912 Bundy Ave., New Castle. Check-in for teams will begin at 12 p.m. Teams of 4 are welcome to register to compete in the race.
